Yvonne’s car was rear-ended in Los Angeles. The defendant even admitted fault.

The two issues that went to trial were the chiropractor care reasonable and necessary and was Yvonne’s Double Vision credible. 

Yvonne claimed her chiropractic care was essential and gave her substantial relief despite continuing back pain.

Defendant argued that despite a right orbital blowout fracture, that the injury was temporary and her pain exaggerated. 

Defendant suggested to the jury that the award ought to be limited to $76,000 for past medical bills and $400,000 for future general damages. 

Plaintiff expert witness, a neuro-ophthalmologist, testified that Yvonne would require two more eye surgeries which should allow Yvonne to return to work and drive a vehicle. However, her MTBI would require additional care. 

The Jury awarded $802,836. It was upheld by Judge Michele Flurer of The Los Angeles Superior Court on Nov 1, 2022. 

The Department of Justice [DOJ] announced Wednesday, June 28, 2023, that it recently charged 78 people with $2.5 billion in separate health-care fraud and opioid abuse schemes.

Most of the schemes involved different pockets throughout the country in a consolidated prosecution.

However, there was one Tarzana DC L.Ac accused of serious Medicare Fraud.

The Tarzana doctor is charged with billing Medicare in or around June 2018 and in or around June 2022. The Defendant submitted to Medicare approximately $3,332,365.00 in false and fraudulent claims for reimbursement for CPT code 98942. Defendant received approximately $2,465,771.61 in payments on those claims.
